Enter to win a Flip Video Camera from Alice!

March 2nd, 2009 | By Rebecca Thorman | 103 Comments

To kick off the launch of our Alice blog, we’re giving away a Flip Mino video camera!

We’re big fans of video blogging and we love the way video brings out the personality from people like 5 Minutes for Mom, Momversation, Gary Vaynerchuk, Hack College, Jun Loayza, the Motherhood’s Sisterhood of the Traveling Flip, Shama Hyder, This Full House, Ryan Stephens, iJustine, Jessica Gottlieb, Mommy Musings, Cool Mom and Chris Brogan. We’d love to see more people expressing themselves with Flip.

You don’t have to be a blogger to enter this giveaway; we want to meet you whoever you are. Just follow the entry rules below for your chance to win.

How to Enter

Answer the question, “What household product are you most loyal to and why?” You know the one – it’s the brand you’d never switch from, you’d never go without and you’re happy to tell all your friends all about it.

You can enter in three different ways. You can only use each way once, but can use each method for up to four different chances to win.

1) Add a photo to our new “We heart household products” Flickr group of your favorite household product that all your friends should use, and then copy and paste the link of the photo back into the comments of this post. This will count as one entry.

2) Post about the giveaway on Twitter, Facebook, MySpace, LinkedIn or FriendFeed. Then come back to this post and leave a link to your update and tell us what your favorite household product is that you’d never switch from in the comments. This will count as one entry.

3) Write a blog post about the giveaway answering the question, and link to us in your blog. Just paste the blog post link back into the comments. This will count as two entries.

One winner will be chosen at random from all valid entries.

Rules
Winner of giveaway will be awarded a Flip Mino video camera with an estimated retail value of $150.  Giveaway is open to legal U.S. residents 18 or older residing in the 50 United States (includes DC).  Void where prohibited.  Employees (and their immediate families and households) of Alice.com, Inc. are not eligible.  Giveaway entries will be accepted until Wednesday, March 4 at 11:59 pm. Winning entry must provide a valid email address (Alice.com will never sell or rent your e-mail to third parties). We will notify the winner by email on Thursday, March 5. The winner will have 48 hours to respond to us with their name and valid U.S. mailing address.  If this information is not received within 48 hours, a new winner will be chosen.  Odds of winning depend on number of entries received. Sponsor: Alice.com, Inc.

The Catch
The winner of the giveaway must use their Flip camera to provide a video answer to the question, “What household product are you most loyal to and why?“  If we like your video, we’ll feature you and your product on our blog!

We’ll announce the winner next Monday – good luck!

Fave household cleaner is the new Green Works by Clorox – All-purpose natural cleaner!!

The product that I would never switch away from would have to be Windex. The generics just don’t make the cut when you really need to clean the dog nose prints off of the windows.

  3. I am absolutely and completely loyal to Charmin Ultra toilet paper. While it is more expensive than other brands its soft thick tissue makes it worth the splurge and rough thin paper are a personal pet peeve not worth messing with.

  4. Greenworks by Clorox! Luv the stuff! Thanks for the chance to win! I want a Flip SOOOOOO bad!

  5. I can’t live without baking soda. I know, lame right?

I use it to scrub my sink down every night and the bathtubs too. I never have to worry if I’ve gotten all the residue off because it’s edible.

  6. Nova Bakke says:

    @alice I love the new non-toxic dishwasher tablets from @methodhome http://tinyurl.com/bq52e8

It doesn’t leave any streaks like other eco detergents, but it doesn’t promote algae in the water like with other dishwashing detergents. And it comes in a cute package. Swear I don’t work for the company.

  7. Peter says:

I’ve bought Bon Ami cleanser for years — It Hasn’t Scratched Yet!! :)

  8. I just tweeted, but don’t know how to leave the link. Can you DM me? @theappleofmyeye

  9. Rebecca says:

@ Courtney – I saw your tweet, thanks!

For others, you can leave the link directly in the URL portion of the comment form, or paste the URL directly into the comment form. I’ll be making sure none end up as spam.

    Thanks!

I don’t know if you’d consider it a household product, but I do! I can’t live without Shout. The stain remover. I love that stuff! Not only do I buy one of those big jugs every 2 weeks, but my children’s clothes always look brand new! I hate stains, and thankfully, I don’t have to worry much about them.

    It is my life saver!!

My favorite household product is probably Pledge. I usually buy store brands for cleaning products to save money, but I always buy the real Pledge. It just works better.

Please enter me to win the flip video camera.

  12. You know the one…that product that makes you giddy with excitement every time you clean. The product that makes the sun shine even though there is a storm brewing outside. The product that puts the cherry on top of a well cleaned home. Well, I might be going a bit overboard, but I can answer that question without hesitation…

I {heart} Clorox Green Works! I started using the product when I was pregnant with my third daughter that was born this past December. I’m sorry, but I cannot depend on anyone else to take care of my home like I do, so giving up cleaning was not an option. I did however give up products with harsh chemicals that might harm my unborn daughter and when I found Clorox Green Works, I jumped for joy…well kinda. It was more like a pop up and a little squeal than an actual jump. All the same, I was thrilled and still have to have the product around.

I figure, why not keep the chemical free products around for the rest of my and my families life and stop the pollution in it’s tracks. Well, I can’t save the world alone, but I can sure do my part.

Not to change the subject, but how would you like to win a Flip Video Camera? I sure would and that’s why I entered over at Alice.com. All you have to do is go over to Alice.com and answer the question…What is your favorite household product? Super easy! Now GO!

Here is my RT http://twitter.com/ChristyMoss/status/1270146741. My husband and I love kleenex. Most recently Kleenex introduced their Vicks infused Kleenexes. One whiff of those delightful tissues and we were instantly transported back to childhood – to a time when our mom’s rubbed Vicks on our chest. aaaaaahhhhh. :-)

I LOVE the scotch brite blue wavy no scratch sponges. They are by far the best and last a long time if you know how to! I use them in my sink/dishes as long as I can, then use them to clean the appliances/stovetop or the bathroom (disinfectant wipes after that to be safe – anal about cleaning), then use to wash the floors. Yes, I wash my floors with a sponge and hot soapy water. I could not live without these little gems!

and in flickr. come on, who’s with me on these Scotch Brite sponges?!

Separately, @Arianna – I love me some Charmin Ultra too!!!

  17. Windy Gabbert says:

I love the Mr. Clean Magic Erasers….mostly because my husband uses them to clean the showers, it’s one cleaning task I don’t have to do anymore since I began purchasing them!!!

  18. Thanks for the shout out!

Fun contest idea. Flips are the best aren’t they?

  19. Tanna says:

Do diapers count? The first thing that came to mind were Pampers! I love them and won’t put my kids in any thing else. They’ve been around my house for quite some time. However I won’t be sad when I have to stop buying them!

    I retweeted! http://twitter.com/TannaC

And my favorite product: Tissues! Nothing is more unattractive than a runny nose…

  21. Brooke says:

    I sent out a Tweet. I’m @dinkypopsnomore.

In our household, I can easily think of two things we would never switch from: 1.) Charmin TP – There are some sensitive bums in the house, and this is what we’ve used for years! 2.) Tide Laundry Detergent – Not only are there some sensitive bums, but also sensitive skin. We know this works on our stains and doesn’t cause any funky allergies or skin issues.

  22. Cindy says:

I love Clorox Bleach! In any of its forms, nothing else stands up to it for us!

    Twittered it too: http://twitter.com/kiniwoman

  23. Sky says:

I added my picture of my love affair with Shout on Flickr!

    seeryufam@msn.com

  24. I love Viva paper towels because they are SUPER absorbant!

  25. Jamie says:

That’s easy – Mr. Clean’s Magic Eraser – I LOVE that thing!! It works on anything and everything – and it’s great when you have a messy 3 year old boy!! Oh yeah – and a messy husband…hehehe

  26. Okay, a chance to win what my husband has been begging for? I can’t resist! http://tinyurl.com/awwbmn
half a minute ago from web

That is my twitter comment. May I confess I have no idea how to link it back here? I am a ditz.
However, I am in LUV with my Magic Eraser mop. It has truly been magic for me. Now? I better go take a pic of myself with it!

  27. Carolyn G says:

I am most loyal to Clorox Wipes. I use them for everything. I love them because they are disposable and they clean up all the germs and bacteria. They are easy to use and not that expensive. I love and would never ever give them up.

  28. Alicia says:

I lovve my magic eraser! I don’t know how or why they work…but crayons, markers, scuffs, pen, sticker gunk beware…you’re comin’ off with this thing!

Favorite Household item = my Dyson DC17 Animal Vacuum.
Can’t fathom how I thought I had a good vacuum cleaner before this one.

Not entering contest. Just wanted to share. A Dyson really is worth the money.

  30. Lisa says:

My can’t live without product is “Simple Green” cleaner. It is the most fabulous all-purpose cleaner I have ever used, and can be purchased at the dollar store. From shower to car tires, it cleans it all with minimum elbow grease!

Hey you didn’t tell me yesterday that there was a flip contest on! Oh my heck I want. one. bad… :)

  32. Akirah says:

I heart Lysol and those antibacterial wipes. I spray and wipe like a fiend whenever my roommate or I are sick.

  33. Carissa says:

Well crap I forgot the question part.. My favorite household product? I love Comet Cleanser. Is that too lame? I mean what’s not to love? It’s cheap, it does the hard jobs from toilet cleaner to counter and sink cleaner to garage floor sparkle-er! I don’t even buy the store brand stuff, Comet already is cheap! I especially like the lemon scented varieties…

Hmmm a whole blog post about Comet?? I could try..??

  34. ciara says:

    here’s the tweet http://twitter.com/ciaraj13/statuses/1274332813

i actually have two, but purex liquid laundry detergent in after the rain scent is one i can’t live w/o. it’s cheap, makes clothes smell nice, and it works pretty well when you put a little on stain, rub it in, and then wash.

another is comet spray cleaner…it’s cheap, too, and keeps bathrooms, kitchens smelling clean. :)

  35. ciara says:

oh yeah, bounty paper towels…my goodness there are a lot hehe :)

  36. Megan says:

I love Charmin toilet paper… the ultra strong kind! No matter the price, it’s what I buy. Twittered: http://twitter.com/meganlhill/status/1274356549

  37. Tweet: http://twitter.com/Jenny86753oh9/status/1274355788

Not even a year’s supply of another brand could keep me from my ALL’s Free & Clear laundry detergent. I have a son with very sensitive skin and I’ve tried all the free detergents out there, but nothing works like All’s! Period. (And the price rocks!)

  38. I just twittered! http://twitter.com/livinglocurto/statuses/1274366832

I can’t live without white vinegar. I mix it with water and clean most everything with it. As for a brand, I like the Swiffer Wet Jet for fast clean ups.

  39. htowntex says:

Ok. I’ll throw my name into the hat. Here’s one of my favorite products.

Vinegar is one household item I can’t do without. Not only does it clean well, I use it in my Scooba to clean floors, and it makes a great laundry rinse (in place of fabric softener).

  41. Maria says:

I heart Baby Bits. They’re small soap pieces that allow you to make cloth wipes solution. I use them on EVERYTHING.
