15 Steps to a Relaxed Living Room:

1. Launder your window treatments in your washing machine or take them to the dry cleaner.
2. Use a rubber glove and an old sock over the top to clean blinds. Dip your covered hand into rubbing alcohol and wipe the slats down.
3. Loosen any cobwebs from the corners of your walls. Dust the crown molding and your ceiling fan blades with a microfiber cloth.
4. Clean out your air-conditioning vents and replace your filters.
5. Clean out fireplace for the season; store unused logs. Sprinkle damp coffee grounds over the fireplace ashes to keep dust down.
6. Wipe walls and ceilings with soap and water.
7. Dust the tops of your furniture, going from tallest to shortest. Clean and condition wood furniture with Pledge and soft clothes.
8. Use a brand like Old English to cover scratches.
9. Take books and accessories off shelves, and dust shelves with Pledge.
10. Wash inside of your windows using a glass cleaner like Green Works and newspaper.
11. Disinfect areas you’d like to sterilize with rubbing alcohol and cotton balls.
12. Use a carpet cleaner like 409 to treat any stains. When it’s dry, vacuum.
13. Next, use an odor-eliminator like Glade. Shampoo or steam-clean wall-to-wall carpets, area rugs and upholstery.
14. Mop your floors with equal parts vinegar and water.
15. Before replacing items back into your living room, think about it as a sacred space. Decide if an item is either beautiful or useful before putting it back.
How do you clean your kitchen and living room? What are your challenges? Does your family help or are you the lone soldier?

Green living has a lot to do with intentionally lessening your consumption of energy. You don’t have to spend a hundred thousand dollars transforming your home with wind turbines, solar panels and flux capacitors. You can do simple green things for free like shutting the lights off when you leave a room. Try dropping that thermostat setting a few degrees in the winter and raising it a few degrees in the summer. Buy energy-saving light bulbs and appliances. Ensure that your home, water lines and hot water tanks are thoroughly insulated.
@ Green living community – I absolutely agree, it’s so easy to do little changes that add up to a big difference. Thanks for sharing!
The Glade Clean Linen series is incredible. My favorite smell is clean laundry.
