“Hoaww!”
That’s the noise I made in the shower this weekend. I was visiting family, stayed at my mother’s house, and true to her luck, there was no hot water on Saturday. So I took a cold shower. A very cold shower.
The upside was that my hair was ridiculously shiny. And now that Winter seems to have finally loosened its grip on Spring, I plan to rinse my hair with cold water more often. Cold water seals the cuticle and moisture in. And it prevents me from needing any coffee whatsoever.
Or mayonnaise. Or eggs. Or lemon juice. Or beer. What is it with women putting food in their hair?
Shine on.
What are your shiny hair hacks? Do you buy a special product, use something homemade or follow a certain procedure?

I use shampoo and conditioner, by pantene. sooo boring, but it works!
@ Jill – Haha, I don’t think that’s boring! I use Suave. It’s cheap and good. The other trick is to switch up shampoo every week or two so your hair doesn’t get bored.
Rebecca – the cold water trick is also great for curly/frizzy hair. It closes the cuticle so your hair has more volume (who doesn’t need that?!), and make hair less frizzy. Didn’t know about the shiny business though!! In the summer I rinse with cool water, but there is nothing like a relaxing warm shower; especially in the winter!!
I use a fortifying mask for my hair – OMGosh! it works so well! Here’s a link to the product I use!! http://tinyurl.com/dxzf4k
@ Rachael – I am a volume hoard (I have fine hair), and I can see how the cold water could help with that as well. A good friend of mine has super curly hair too so I will have to pass on your fabulous tips to her. I’m going to check out the mask right now… thanks for sharing!
