Today, we’re opening the doors on Laurie Ruettimann of the entertaining and popular human resources blog, Punk Rock HR. In her own words:
I left my job in 2007 to focus on writing my blog, Punk Rock HR, which offers career advice and opinions from the perspective of Human Resources. Unfortunately, when I quit working in Corporate America, I had to start cleaning my own house. This is challenging because I have five cats, one of whom blogs, and I have serious cat allergies.
I follow two methodologies when it comes to buying household products: keep it simple and keep it nearby. I want to kill germs, remove dirt, and deodorize – and I keep cleaning supplies under every sink so I don’t have to wander around my house looking for the one bottle of toilet bowl cleaner. I love to try new household products, but I always go back to the classics because they work the best. My cabinets are full of Windex, Pledge, Comet, and Bounty paper towels. This is America, and I believe that only harsh detergents and the smell of bleach can get my house super-clean.
If I had to name the single greatest invention of all time, it’s the Swiffer. The second greatest invention is my super-expensive vacuum, the Miele Cat & Dog canister vacuum. It’s a luxury that we bought when I had a traditional job, and it’s the best thing to ever come out of my career in Human Resources.

Laughing my ass off
