Giveaway: Vaska Laundry Starter Kit!

by Rebecca on September 23   ///   57 Comments

Vaska was started by Julia Fry, a fashion designer whose passion for textiles inspired her to formulate advanced botanical cleaning solutions for laundry (stylish and safe?!).

vaskatrio
Their Herbatergent uses real herbs and potent botanical cleaning agents for high performance stain removal and extreme freshness. Clothing stays brighter, lasts longer and feels softer without the chemical residues that cause skin irritation and fabric damage. (And did I mention the bottles are pretty?)

Three winners will receive a Vaska Variety Pack (above) that includes:

(2) Vaska Lavender Herbatergent (32 loads each)

(2) Vaska Scent-Free Herbatergent (32 loads each)

(2) Vaska HerbaSoft Fabric Softener (32 loads each)

That’s six bottles for clean, fresh laundry! Just tell us…

What do you like about Vaska? Or share your best laundry tip!

I honestly have to say, as someone who runs a design agency, good design always means they care about their products and it looks like that Vaska does that and more with their new product offering!

A laundry tip I have is to honestly do your laundry after 9pm or before 7am. Electricity is cheaper and depending on how much laundry you have to do that could equal out to a big savings!

My best laundry tip is to allow your little ones to help you gather the clothes and help put them in the washer/dryer. Teaches them responsibility while you get to spend time together and get cleaning done as well!

As a vegetarian, animal rescue advocate and earth lover, Vaska fits right into the mold of products I buy. The plant extracts are a wonderful alternative to other skin-irritating additives. There are no animal products in this line nor is it tested on animals – and it’s environmentally friendly. It’s so nice to find companies out there that value things that are this important to me.

One laundry tip I have is to skip the fabric softener on items that are in the laundry that are used by my dogs, such as dog beds. This will make your bottle last much longer and the dogs will appeciate a squaky-clean, barely scented bed. Remember, their noses are many times stronger than ours and laying in a bed that smells more than just clean can be stressful.

My best laundry tip is to hang dry your clothing. We have 3 teenage daughters. To prolong the life of their clothing, I hang dry most of their blouses, camis, and t-shirts either outside, or on a drying rack in the laundry room. Teenage girls’ clothing tastes are expensive. This keeps their nice clothing looking nice for longer!

  • Mel H

I love lavender.. ” Herbal lavender extracts are naturally anti-bacterial and purify clothing.” How can you go wrong with that! My best tip — lye soap. Yep. Lye. Gets out those pesky mystery stains that show up on my kid’s clothes. Pre-treat the stain and its gone!

Glitter on kids clothes can be a real pain — the first time you wash it, spray it with some hairspray to help it stay in place. Look for a non-water soluble hairspray if you can find it, though any will work… Turn it inside out and wash as normal!

I love the natural products! I try to hang my clothes outside as much as possible and wash all my clothes in cold water.

Anything healthy, green & safe is welcome in my laundry room!

My best laundry tip is soaking stains in clorox II and Cascade dish washer powder- 1C each. I am talking about set in stains- baby formula etc. In very hot water for 4hrs. wash as normal- stain should be gone.

  • http://twitter.com/Envirolana Alana

Add a mixture of baking soda and distilled vinegar to your next to load. It naturally freshens clothes and helps to remove stubburn armpit stains!

I only use green products since I have sensitive skin and allergies. But the greatest trick I learned in college is throw it in, let it boil, and your good to go.

My laundry tip…I like to hang a lot of my clothes. They don’t look as worn out if you don’t put them in the dryer.

  • Megan Johnson

I need some harmless laundry detergents! Love you alice!

  • Betty Curran

I like to add Borax to my wash. It seems to boost the cleaning power and makes the clothes softer without spending extra on softener. Oh, and it’s much cheaper to use than other softeners.

My laundry tip. You can make your own wrinkle reducer spray by diluting fabric softener like Vaska’s in an old spray bottle full of water.

I love Alice so why wouldn’t I love Vaska – it’s all about making life better. I am so thrilled to see a scent-free version as I am allergic to nearly everything and that is the number one factor in my cleaning purchase decisions. Thanks for thinking of people like me!

My tip is that you should wash your dryer lint trap in warm soap and water every 2-3 months. Soaps and softeners build up on it, clogging it up and preventing free air flow. That costs you money in longer drying times. Clean ‘em up gals! ;-)

My laundry tip is make sure to empty all your pockets! The few extra minutes will save loads of money if your kids forget a crayon in their pocket!

  • http://dirtydomestics.blogspot.com/ Rebecca

My laundry tip – is to keep your washing machine squeaky clean.

    1. Run a hot soapy wash cycle and before it fills up completely, I scrub the parts: dispensers, sides, agitator, and the ring-around-the-basket with a non-scratch scrubbing pad and toothbrush – before it agitates (stop it and restart if you need to so your arms are not in there when the agitator
    starts).

    2. Run the soak cycle and add nothing but some bleach once it fills up with water.
This keeps my machine cleaned and sanitized.

*Tip* Clean the screens found in the hose ends that fill the machine.
*Tip* Read your manual for maintenance as machines vary.

  • http://julie_gong.blogspot.com Julie_Gong

No matter what laundry detergent I buy, it never has that fresh laundry smell. Maybe it’s me? Oh god I hope it’s not me. Hopefully if I win Vaska will drastically improve my smell self-image. Plus who doesn’t love a botanical cleaning agent?!?!

I love that there are no chemicals or animal products. My DH and I are both very sensitive to artificial scents and chemicals. And I only use either pure castile soap or all natural laundry detergent.

My best laundry tip is. to use only natural bio degradable products and if you can, run your washer hose into a graywater system to water plants in your yard. I do this with our 70 year old wringer washer. Then (weather permitting) the clothes get hung on the clothesline. We do not have a dryer and I and the bank account are happy about that.

I hadn’t heard of Vaska until this post, but it sounds wonderful! Can’t wait to give it a try. My best laundry tip is that if sorting isn’t feasible for one reason or another, then Shout Color Catchers are a life saver…I don’t have reason to use them anymore, but they’re wonderful little workhorses.

My laundry tip: If you have something wet (like baby spit-up), either wash it immediately, or set it out to dry. Otherwise, if you throw it into your hamper wet, you might be in for a nasty surprise.

  • http://mamacat.wordpress.com/ Jennifer

My favorite laundry tip that I’ve been doing for awhile is to use some white vinegar in my wash load. My towels and clothes come out so clean and fluffy; I like using a natural antibacterial agent to get rid of soil on towels and sheets. I definitely recommend a shot of vinegar to your wash! :)

  • http://ascendingbutterfly.blogspot.com Tracy

Vaska’s herbatergent ™ is gray water and septic tank safe. Recommended for babies and people with sensitive skin. herbatergent ™ is safe for use on all natural and synthetic washable fabrics. I love learning about products that are safe for sensitive skin, I also find a great tip is to make sure only thing is scented, either the detergent or fabric softener but not both.

the idea of using a product such as Vaska is exciting as I have very sentive skin and am tired of buying creams to stop this problem. Would love to win a kit but passed the entry date. If I could get coupons would be a beginning. Thanks so much
