I actually stole this from Gerber’s website but it is so true and helped me so much! Try not to feed baby while fussy. A calm baby while feeding will help prevent hiccuping and spitting up.

  2. Kristin says:

We follow the same routine for dinner with my daughter every night and we make it a game as she is finishing her veggies. We clap when we are half way done and then celebrate with lots of clapping and giggles when she finishes.

http://twitter.com/Tamarametcalf19 I tweeted about this today!

  4. Tami Roebuck says:

My best feeding time advice is to feed baby veggies first. If you give them the sweet tasting fruit first, they may not eat the not so sweet veggies. Also, just accept that there will be a mess and clean it up all at the end instead of keeping tidy along the way. It will save you from great stress!

We stay consistent with the time we feed our baby, usually staying within a 30-min. time range. Otherwise, he would just eat all the time! And for the meal, we feed him some vegetables, some fruit and then something plain like rice cereal for a balanced diet.

Thank you for such a great giveaway!!! I’ve blogged about it at http://csheeley.blogspot.com/2009/10/feeding-little-bit.html.

I have more than one tip — probably because we’re just bordering the edge of finishing up with stage one foods and thinking about moving to stage two – perfect timing on this contest!!

    1. Plastic bibs are the best thing in the world, and they save money in laundry!
    2. Give your baby their own spoon to play with to keep their hands busy.
    3. Keep a washcloth or some baby wipes handy, but try to resist using them until you’re all done — the cute mess they make is half the fun!!

  8. Jamie Hering says:

Mix the rice/oatmeal/wheat cereal and baby food together to make sure your little one is getting the benefits of both foods in one spoonful! And.. don’t forget, a high chair tray can hold plenty of toys to amuse your little one while you are making dinner!

  9. Lauren G says:

Since this is my first child, I really have no feeding advice. However, the people above me gave great advice!

  10. tree croyle says:

baby food, don’t leave home without it, and buy a lot, they eat SOOO much!

Sometimes it’s best to feed baby while he’s just in his diaper only – that way his cute clothes don’t get dirty/stained!

  12. Theresa says:

If baby doesn’t like a food today, don’t give up, try it again next week, as baby’s likes and dislikes change almost constantly.

Thanks for having this great giveaway.

  13. Nichole says:

My best advice is to let the baby/toddler eat in just a diaper and a bib (at home)! This makes things much easier to clean and there are no dirty/stained outfits!

    Be prepared to get messy!

  16. Lisa says:

Skip the jarred food and make your own. This way baby eats the same foods that you are eating. (Don’t know if you’ve ever tried them, but at my baby shower, grown women couldn’t identify the jarred foods after smelling and TASTING them.) A hand blender purees tons of food real quick. Just puree what you make for yourself before you add the seasonings. This way your baby will be familiar with the taste of your foods when you switch them from the baby foods. You can also freeze extras in ice cube trays and take them with you in covered containers.

I also agree with feeding your baby in only a diaper. A great way to reduce laundry!

  17. HiFiGuy says:

My feeding tip (for formula-feeding new parents out there) is keep a bottle of pre-measured water and a bottle of pre-measured formula ready, so you can quickly mix them together in the middle of the night without having to be too terribly coordinated.

  18. Amanda Doebler says:

Being a first-time mom, feeding tips are important in my life right now. One that I have found extremely helpful so far, is to introduce veggies before fruits. This will help train your baby’s little taste buds, so that they don’t reject veggies later after having something a little more sweet.

  19. cynthia says:

http://twitter.com/Cynthia24×7/status/5065035715 I tweeted. My best advice, avoid pairing juice with dinner, they’ll just want to drink their juice up instead of eating their food!

  20. Marge says:

The best advice I could give for feeding baby is to be immersed in the moment. There is nothing else that needs to command your attention. They grow so quickly—and yes, I’ve been harried and rushed and annoyed but looking back at those days? Twenty-twenty hindsight tells me to confess that nothing that harried, annoyed or rushed me back then is remembered: the moments with my precious baby, however, are.

  21. Jenny AW says:

    http://twitter.com/tuliplvr/status/5090117281

If a baby does not want to eat they may not be hungry. Don’t force it.

  22. Frayda says:

My feeding tips are to always feed baby in the same place, leave the TV off so he or he doean’t get distracted, and have fun! If the feeder or the baby is stressed out, things won’t go well.

(I posted this contest as my facebook status)

  23. Lachelle says:

I think my favorite advice is to make your own baby food: safes money, is healthier, and tastier for baby! My daughter loves it and will have a much easier transition to table food because she has been tasting these flavors already! It is always nice to have baby food jars to take out with you too!

  24. Neat! I’m pregnant with my second child and can’t wait for the due date, even though I know a few things there’s plenty I don’t. Thanks for the information, you don’t know how much I appreciate it.Thanks!Darla
