In today’s economy, everyone is looking for more ways to save and be smart with their spending.  Did you know that your toilet paper, diapers and all your other household essentials are typically one of the top five expenditures in the household?

People spend lots of time and energy on big ticket expenses like homes, cars and vacations, but all of those tubes of toothpaste and bottles of all-purpose cleaner can also have a huge impact on your bank account.  Lots of families have no idea what they spend on this category of goods, but at Alice, we’re working to make it really easy to save on household products.

We take pride in being the only online site selling household essentials to display a price comparison on each product so you can quickly see the price of the product at other online stores.  We also help you track your overall spending so you can stay in budget and see the big picture.  And today, we’re excited to announce that we’re doing even more to empower you to be a smart shopper.

Many of you have requested the ability to sort by price per unit in order to compare one product to another and find the best value quickly. Today, we launched the ability to do just that.

Cost per unit

On all of our products, you will now see the cost per unit listed next to the quantity on that item. For instance, if you’re looking at a pack of 104 diapers at a cost of $20.24 on Alice, you can easily reference that the price is $0.19 per diaper. You can also sort by the Price Per Unit feature to quickly find the lowest price.

Alice is the only place online to offer the ability to compare prices per unit. We’re delighted to help you save money by making price comparisons easily accessible, and helping you stay smart when it comes to your household shopping.

I live in Manhattan (Upper West Side) and physically did a price comparison at Duane Reade and found ALL (17) household items at Alice.com to be significantly cheaper. (My bf didn’t believe me, so I made a little “Price is Right” guessing game for him)

But it’s such a benefit for any urban dweller that has limited shopping options. Would be interesting to implement a self-recording price comparison to your local stores.

  2. Thanks, Jill! It’s great to hear about your price comparison in Manhattan. We have some cool ideas about comparing prices locally so stay tuned! :)
